Text cleaner

Text copied out of a PDF, a slide or an email arrives with its own spacing. This removes the parts that are almost always noise and leaves the rest for you to check.

Exactly what gets changed

Repeated spaces and tabs collapse to a single space, and spaces at the start and end of each line are trimmed. More than two blank lines in a row become two, so a paragraph break stays a paragraph break.

“Join wrapped lines” is the option that does real work on text copied from a PDF: a single break inside a paragraph becomes a space, while a blank line is treated as a paragraph boundary.

Where this can go wrong

Line breaks carry meaning in poetry, addresses, lyrics, code, and tables that were exported as text. Joining those lines edits the document rather than tidying its appearance.

Quote conversion is a guess about convention. If the source mixes two styles, or quotes a phrase inside a quote, check the output by eye instead of trusting the swap.

Nothing here corrects spelling, grammar or facts. It only touches spacing and quote glyphs.
